深沟球轴承的内外圈滚道都呈圆弧状深沟,沟道半径略大于球半径.主要用于承受径向载荷,也可承受一定的轴向载荷.当轴承的径向游隙加大时,具有角接触球轴承的功能,可承受较大的轴向载荷,而且适用于高速旋转.轴承在外壳孔和轴相对倾斜8′～16′时,仍可正常工作,但影响其使用寿命.在转速较高且不宜采用推力球轴承的情况下可用该类轴承承受纯轴向载荷。
